MARIYA DONES, NCACII, CSAC, SAP, SAP COUNSELOR

Mariya has been a professional in substance abuse and addiction since 1984. She achieved her certification in chemical dependency from JFK University of California Graduate School of Psychology in 1984 and has worked extensively in the treatment of substance abuse.
Prior to living on Maui she lived in the Yucatan of Mexico in a tiny fishing village where she worked with the local people in scuba diving and fishing. She also taught substance abuse prevention and intervention in Spanish language and has worked with many diverse cultures. From 1991 until 1996 she was employed as Alcohol and Drug Abuse Specialist and Consultant at Hawaii Job Corp. She is also a Padi Open Water Scuba Instructor. She enjoys diving and surfing waves and everything having to do with nature and the ocean.



MARK NOWICKI, M.A. 

Mark Nowicki has been working in the field of counseling since 1974. Mark received his Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Bridgeport (Bridgeport, Connecticut) in 1985. Mark has extensive experience working with families, couples and individuals. He also works in the area of sexual addiction and sexual issues in relationships.

Mark has been on Maui for 9 years and has worked as well with teenage youth as a counselor at Maui High School. Previous to coming to Maui, Mark was the director of Looking Glass Youth and Family Services counseling program in the largest youth and family servicing agency in Eugene, Oregon. Mark also taught courses in communication skills in the School of Education at the University of Oregon. Mark has worked with EAP services for five years on Maui and is familiar with the issues and stresses that impact Hawaii employees.
